Chapter 1: City of
Seattle
Famous Buildings and
Popular Buildings by An-Mei
We have many popular buildings in Seattle . Some of the popular buildings are
the Space Needle and Safeco Field, CenturyLink Field and “Columbia Tower,” said
Theo, and “the Smith Tower,” said Cannon. And I went to the Space Needle. I
went to the top when I was little and I can’t remember. The Space Needle has a
restaurant in it. To get to the top you need to take the elevator. CenturyLink
Field is a football field that the Seahawks plan on and Safeco Field is a
baseball field that the Mariners play on. There are some games coming up. The
year for them to play is over and the Super Bowl is soon. The Columbia Tower
is another popular place in Seattle .
My dad has been on the “top floor before,” said Oliver. The Space Needle was
built in 1961 and it was built 605 feet tall and it was for the 1961 World’s
Fair. Smith Tower was built in 1914. It was 489 feet
tall. A fact: Smith
Tower is the oldest
skyscraper in Seattle .
Do you have any popular buildings, and what are their names?
Famous Things About Our
City by Isabel
What are some famous things about our city? Well, there is
the Space Needle! “I like the Space Needle because at the restaurant, it spins
around and you can pass notes,” said Sebastian. Pike Place Market’s mascot,
Rachel the Piggy Bank, weighs 550 pounds. People started to put money in her
belly since 1986. In 1909 they held the World’s Fair on the U-Dub campus.
Millions of people came. The Columbia
tower was finished in 1985. It took 3 years to build it. It is the tallest
building in Seattle
and the second tallest building on the west coast. Jimi Hendrix was born in Seattle . He started
playing guitar when he was 15. He was a songwriter. His band, The Jimi Hendrix
Experience, is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He died way too young when he
was 27.
Fun Things to Do in Seattle by Hugh
A really fun place to go in Seattle is the Space Needle. I have gone to
the Space Needle 2 times. And it is really fun. There are 3 elevators. There is
a person that is helping you get up to the top of the Space Needle. Another
good place to go is Subway. It is a really good place to go in Seattle . Subway is really fun. I enjoy Subway
“my favorite drink there is orange Fanta, and my favorite sandwich there is ham
sandwich.” It is really good in my opinion what is yours? Another good place to
go in Seattle
is the Museum. They have lots of art and famous art. Another good place to go
in Seattle is
to the movie theater and m.r. popcorn. The movie theater is a really fun. “My
favorite animated movie is Big Hero 6.”
What is yours? Another good place to go in Seattle is the Lego Store. “I love the Chima
Set.” They are so cool, you really need to get them.
Weather Most of the
Time by Oliver
The weather here in the winter is gray and cold and rainy.
The weather here in the spring is hot and sunny. The weather here in the summer
is so hot and sunny. By the way the weather here in the spring and summer is
the same. The weather here in the fall is cold and sunny and we have misty rain
too.
Chapter 2: School
Our School Mascot by
Atticus
Our school mascot is stored in the Parent teacher
Association room. Once in a while the Scottie Dog will come to our assemblies.
In the month of February and March we have an IA’s donation. At 95 percent
participation we get a class photo with the Scottie! This is very fun! My dad
has been in it! “Our school mascot is big
not small like others,” said Hiram, a McDonald student. Scottie Dog Fun! The
Scottie is very funny he comes running from class to class on the last day of
school! Do you have a Scottie as your mascot? Do you have a mascot too? If you
do, what is it?
What is Famous About
Our School? by Kina
The Scottie is our mascot. And we have not only English but
we teach Japanese and Spanish too! Here is a quote, “Our Principal is Mr.
Golosman,” said Amy who is Cannon’s mom. We have science and math Japanese class. Room 207 is our class
number. Almost everyday we have a volunteer.
“The PTA (Parent Teacher
Association) are nice,” said my daddy. We also have a teacher named Emi Sensei. Sensei means teacher in
Japanese. Emi Sensei is one of my favorite teachers in the whole world. Do you
have a special way of saying teacher?
Our Playground by
Hiram
Our playground has monkey bars, slides, stairs, woodchips
and concrete. We are safe, kind and responsible. “Racing has no skipping, no
galloping, no hopping on one foot!” says Kai. I say, “I disagree. There are
lots of ways to race.”
Rules on the playground:
1. No
running on the woodchips
2. Stay
off the roof of the south playground structure
3. No
climbing on the blue slides
“We have a very cool banana slide!” said Atticus. Kids can
play tag, jump rope, four square, soccer, kickball, and made up games. On rainy
days we have recess in a covered playcourt.
Our School Rules by
Cannon
Our school’s rules are safe, kind, responsible and the Golden
rule and be patient.
Our lunchroom has some rules too. One rule is if we get to
loud we have 3 minutes silent time in the lunchroom.
Our classroom has a few rules. One rule is to wait until the
teacher is done talking, use tools properly, be patient. Patient means you wait
until someone or the teacher is done talking.
Chapter 3: Our
Classroom
What is our Classroom
Like? By Django
Our classroom has no pet in it but the school has a mascot.
Our classroom has lots of tables, chairs and much more! There are lots of
posters on the wall like: What is our environment, how are we all taking
action, what is global warming, how do our needs and wants impact the
environment and what can we do to make our planet better. There are lots of
books in the classroom and library. Do you have art and library and music too?
We have two teachers [ILLEGIBLE]
awesome! I live in Roosevelt . P.S. This book
is looooooooonnnnnnnnngggggg if you can’t tell. Another P.S. Was this book
good? If not read it again and it will be better. P.P.P.S. It’s about to END.
The End. Just kidding, this is another page!! This is hard to write, by the
way.
Our Teachers by Elsa
Our teachers’ names our Keiko Sensei, Emi Sensei, and Ms.
Kathleen. They are pretty and nice. The things we do are really fun. Ms.
Kathleen can be called Ms. K. After Keiko Sensei’s class comes Ms. K’s class.
Ms. K teaches us to read and write stories in English. And Keiko Sensei teaches
us to read a little bit of the time and some science and some math in Japanese.
Emi Sensei teaches sometimes too. She teaches when Keiko Sensei needs a drink.
The first class is Keiko Sensei’s class. Keiko Sensei’s room number is 207 and
Ms. K’s room number is 206. And Ms. K is different from Keiko because Keiko
teaches Japanese.
The Kids in our Class
by Jules
The kids in our class are smart, nice, beautiful and good
friends. We get along good together and play very well. Elsa said, “The kids in
our class are nice,” and it’s true! The kids in our class work very hard and
when we concentrate we are very
smart. We help each other and are kind to one another. On 3-2-2015 at recess Elsa gave me her coat
because it was really windy and I forgot my coat and Elsa had thin sleeves! It
was really nice and Elsa is also my 1st best friend. The kids in my
reading group are fun, work together very good, and have great ideas. Everyone
supports each other. Most help others focus by showing them the peace sign. On
days when we celebrate we go a little crazy, we are supportive and kind and a
Swiss sandwich from Dick’s, it’s a long story. Do you have people in your class
that are this nice, this smart and as good friends as we have here? I hope so
because it is really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really,
really, really, nice. We have a great community!
Our Class Rules by
Kai
I think you should really follow these classroom rules. Do
you have classroom rules too? The rules in our class are be patient, do your
best, be safe, kind, responsible and use tools properly. We have to follow
these rules in our classroom or we will get in trouble. If the teacher tells
you to follow the classroom rules and you don’t you will get in big, big, big
trouble. So you should follow the classroom rules. If you are waiting to be
called on and without complaining you are being patient. If you are in a test
and you’re thinking really hard, you are trying your best. If you are in a fire
drill and you are quiet, you are being safe. All the other classroom rules are
important too!!!! There are many rules in this International School .
[Definition: International
School a school that
you learn lots of languages.]
Chapter 4: Student
Life I
Music by Theo
Let’s start with our teacher Mrs. Stone (she really likes
the Seahawks!). We use a lot of instruments like: mini cymbals, drums and
sticks. It’s really fun! We listen to music, we’ve learned a few notes too, we
also have to draw pictures of what it makes us fell like and we also have to
fill out really hard work sheets like: we have to make a beat with only 2
notes! Here is 1 quote from 1 of my classmates, “My favorite class is music,”
says Jules. Would you like to be at music in McDonald International? And do you
have music?
Sports and Physical
Education by Caleb
In P.E. we play sports. Sports are games that you move your
body. Our teacher, Ms. Fleck, is fun and she knows a lot of sports. We have 6
squads. We sit in our squads to hear the rules of the games. We also learn
about safety and healthy foods and sleep. In P.E. we played a real soccer game.
We play bar tag and football. In flag football we pass a ball. I like to play
dodge ball. I like getting hit by the ball. “I feel happy and tired after,”
said Caleb.
Art by Lily
Our Art teacher is named Ms. Baker. We do lots of fun things
with her. We learn about different artists and make a similar type of drawing.
We use oil pastels, paints, crayons and markers. We learn about different
colors. There are warm colors and cool colors. The room has materials like
string and paper and lots of other things. There are three tables in the front
and the back. There is a screen in the front of the room and there is a white
board in the front of the room too. The room number is 205. The art room is
right next to our room. Our room number is 206. “We do lots of fun projects,”
said Twyla. Some of the projects are painting or drawing from different
artists. We learn to do texture and mixing colors. We use texture in our drawings.
We make really cool drawings and paintings. Do you have a Art class? If you do,
is it like ours?
The Library by Bianca
The library is fun. There are lots of books. It is on the 3rd
floor. Ms. Bliquez is the librarian. She teaches about books and songs. My
favorite lesson was about nonfiction. All students get to use the library. We
check out two books or sometimes you can check out three books.
Chapter 5: Student
Life II
What is the Day Like
by Sebastian
The Beginning
We have three recesses a day. School starts at eight thirty five . In the Japanese
class we learn more about science and stuff like that. We have a Japanese class
and a English class. On Monday we have Art,
on Tuesday and Wednesday we have P.E.
and Library, on Thursday we have
nothing and on Friday we have Music.
What is YOUR day like!?! I wonder?!? Some people buy lunch and some people
bring lunch then we go to recess.
The Afternoon
In the afternoon we read and write. That’s all we do. We
have blogging on Friday too. We have
after school activities, parent pickup, Kids Co. and bus.
Japanese Class by
Julia
Hello, you just came to our Japanese class. Meet our
teachers, Keiko and Emi. See what we learn in our Japanese class! P.S. Our
class number is 207. Also, all Japanese teachers are from Japan . We also
have math books. Everybody has their own. Our Japanese teacher asks us
questions on our book. We write it on our book. And then answer it on our book.
P.S. We have our tools in our own clear box. We use our tools in math and
science and our Japanese book. Our Japanese class has a different partner
school. “We do a lot of math,” said Luke. In science we balance things and look
at insects very closely. The first thing we do is the calendar. 1 of the kids
asks us what is the date. We write it down. 1 person does 1 question (there are
22 kids in the class. There are 7 questions on the board). But before we do the
calendar on the board we do it on a piece of paper and then the teacher checks
it. Do you have Japanese?
Literacy by Luke
We do writing, reading, social studies, and blogging is a
fun thing to do. You type on a computer and make comments on pictures and
sentences of the blogger. The blogger right now is Theo. He does it with the
teacher. In reading we get our book bag and read. We have small groups. I am in
group Dick Whittington. My name is Luke. Here are some other people in my
class: Kai, Kina, Oliver, Julia and more! Our class number is 206 and 207. 207
is our Japanese number!
I’m a student. Do you have questions? “We do math,” said
Oliver.
Activities by Twyla
Do you want to know what we do when our parents can’t get
here? We have after-school activities! They are when you go to the cafeteria
and meet your group of activities people. You go to a room. We have lots
like…clay, golf, Taiko, art (pastel or water color), yoga, Kids Co., theater
and cooking. They are all fun! In cooking, you learn how to cook. We make egg
rolls, fish and chips, and many others. In clay we learn how to use clay. In
art we learn how to make that kind of art. In sewing we learn to sew and so on.
“After school activities are very interesting,” said Julia. “I love sewing,”
said Lily. Now let’s talk about in school activities. We have art, gym, music
and library. And that is how it works. Do you have activities? If you do, have
fun with them, if not, sorry!
