Mahee is Here! ...and off again to Washington D.C.

Mahee and her children came.  However, she was held up in Pakistan for about a month and when she arrived, she was injured.  Could it be customs looking for contraband being smuggled to the US?

Mahee had surgery and was stitched up.  Good as new!

Mahee is a an Indus Dolphin native to the Indus River of Pakistan and India.  She can only survived in fresh water and Pakistan is the only location where they exist.. They occupy 690 km of the Indus River, a 80% reduction in the size of their habitat from 1870.  There are only approximately 1,200 Indus Dophins in the world and they are considered an endangered species.  They are also know as blind dolphins.  Their eyes are not functional and they navigate using echolocation - sound waves.

After Mahee was fixed up, she traveled again to Washington D.C.  to the Johnson family (Lauren!!)

Mahee brought some souvenirs of the Pakistani culture.  The models of the cars are hand painted and reflect real cars you see on the streets of Karachi, Pakistan.
