Isabella's Highlights of the Last Week of School!!!

Today is the last day of school!  Today, we got to pick out a book from Ms. Kathleen's library for a gift.  We had to clean the library because we had it the whole year reading.  On Monday, we did a whole book of Chinese History and Asian culture.  We put all the writing we did of the dynasties in this book.  My gift book was Goddess Girls. 

I'm looking forward to do a lemonade stand with my friend Leone.

Stella's Highlights of the week

Yesterday we were docents for Ms. Braxton's class.  We showed Ms. Braxton's class everything that we learned this year about the history of China.  I showed my partner all the dynasties.  My favorite dynasty is Tang.  I also showed them my Chinese brush painting and the poem for it.

Also today, we will read on the grass.  I finished a review about the Tang Dynasty and the Ching Dynasty.  The last day of school is in 8 days!

Highlights of the week for Charlie

My highlights of the week were writing thank you scrolls to the volunteers and gym and art.  We had a four day break and I went to Washington, D. C. to visit my cousins.  We went swimming in the swimming pool.  I jumped off their diving board a lot.  My dad taught me how to dive.  Tomorrow we are going to have a celebration and today after school, we are going to have a parent volunteer thank you celebration. 

This morning we saw the 4th and 5th graders play songs in the assembly.  This week I'm going to see my friend whom I haven't seen in two years.

Photos of the Ching Dynasty

Because the Ching Dynasty ended in 1911 after the camera was invented, we have some great archival photos of the later rulers.  We also were able to document some of the beautiful artifacts of fabric and artwork of the time.  One of the ways we learned about life in the Ching Dynasty was through photos like the ones linked below.

Highlights of the week for Isabel

We made fans like the that were in the Ching Dynasty except instead of using silk like they did, we used paper.  We are going to have art today.  Also, on Wednesday we had gym and we played Dodgeball.  On Tuesday, I started my food review and it's going to be a negative food review.  I reviewed the tacos that I had at home.  Also on Wednesday, we had a MAP test.

 

Highlights of the week for Dino

The highlights of my week was talking about "My Father's Dragon", a book about a boy finding a cat and had adventures.  We learned to grow the book talk.  We discussed it in our book club.  I wrote a review about Taiko Drumming; I liked it - Taiko Drumming.  Today, I learned how to make a fan.  We looked at Chinese pictures of Empress Cixi and Emperor Puyi.

Friday Treats

Audrey and Halle shared another adventure of Chip and Nut, fiction that they have been working on all year by themselves.

We also wrote our letters for Mother's Day outside to take advantage of the wonderful, warm sunny day.
