Dear Malala,

I am a 3rd grade teacher at McDonald International School in Seattle, Washington, USA.  Our class of 8-9 year olds read your memoir “I am Malala” and were very impressed by you and what you stand for.  We have a class blog and would appreciate a few words from you.  http://mskat-explorers.blogspot.com/.

From reading your book, we understand that you blogged as well.  Our class is inspired by you.  We hope to support you and make a difference as well.  Thank you.

Highlights of the week for Anna

Me doing the Ping Pong Ball race

The highlights of the week are yesterday we had field day.  My favorite obstacles were the water relay and the water balloon toss.  I thought field day was OK.  We cleaned up the library in the classroom as well.  We picked out a gift book to take home and read it over the summer.  I picked out the book Grasshoppers.   I picked it out because it is an interesting life cycle of grasshoppers.

Highlights of the week for Thea

Me at the food bank scooping sugar

This week was Spirit Week, the last full week of school.  On Monday, it was crazy hair day.  On Tuesday, we went on a field trip to University food bank and it was team spirit day.  We packed sugar and beans, and some other people packed some other things.  It was really fun and tiring.  It felt like we were breathing the sugar, kind of.  When I breath, I felt like I was breathing sugar and I could taste sugar.  It made me really hungry.  It made me tired because it was a lot of work but it was fun still.

On Wednesday, it was culture day and you are supposed to wear something from your culture or someone else's culture.  On Thursday, it was backwards and everyone wore something backwards.  But I didn't.  But I wrote backwards, some people walked backwards.  And today is Friday, pajama day.  I've been waiting for this day for a long time.  My little brother was also excited about pajama day.  Me and Jasper are also buying school lunch today; we love school lunch.

Highlights of the week for Josiah

This Monday we got to do a presentation in front of the school and my group did courage.  It was fun.
Today we are going to do gym.  And there is only two weeks til summer!  I'm really excited because I get to go to basketball camp and we get to go to South Dakota.  Usually, I get a tour of the zoo and the zoo keeper lets me hold some of the animals.  The year before last, I got to hold a lemur and feed it fruit snacks.  I also got to hold a baby hedgehog and a goat.
