My highlights of the week is doing the script, making tips on the social studies presentation, and recess because we run a lot during recess. I am glad we had some sunny days this week. We are picking out our script we are going to do.  Our scripts are Jack and the Bean Stalk, The 7 Kids and the Wolf, and Rosa Parks Leads the Way.  I personally like Rosa Parks Leads the Way.

My highlights of the week are the dramashop, art, PE, music, and doing this blog.  In the dramashop, we practiced new accents, practiced sword fighting, and we played a few games.  I liked art because we had to match ripped paper with lily pads that we drew.  In PE, we did a rotation and played some games.  In music, we listened to an opera and then we played musical instruments.  The highlights of this blog is thinking about what I should say.  And happy Mother's Day!!!

Ethiopia

We haven't been out in Addis as much this trip as the last one since we now have Theo's sister with us.  We did, however, spend a few hours at a hotel on Sunday swimming in their pool.  Hlina was very nervous at first because she had never seen a swimming pool that big, and maybe hadn't been around that many people before.  It's important for us to remember that Hlina has spent all of her life (except the first month) in an orphanage--and so she has not had many experiences outside of the walls of her orphanage.
Hlina sat by us for an hour before we convinced her to go to the little playground at the hotel.  She enjoyed the few rides and slides.

We then got her to go in the pool.  She first started in the 'kiddie' pool with water up to her shins, and then we convinced her to go into the big kids pool with Theo's dad holding her.  She loved splashing all the people.
And the donkeys are still around!

Back in Ethiopia

Hi Ms. Kathleen's Class!
Well, Theo's dad and I are back in Ethiopia and this time we get to bring his sister home!  We picked Hlina up from the orphanage yesterday and are staying with her in a guest house.  Hlina has to go to the doctor on Monday to get vaccinations and medical tests but we are hoping that all goes well and we can fly out of Ethiopia late Thursday night.
We don't have any pictures to share today but hopefully tomorrow we will.  If the weather is okay (it has been quite windy this evening) we will take Theo's sister to the pool tomorrow and see how she enjoys swimming!  She has never been swimming before so this should be interesting!
We are excited to have Hlina meet all of you but it may take us a few days or weeks to settle in.  As soon as we're ready we'll have Hlina walk to school with Theo and she can meet you all.

Highlights of the week for Oliver

This is me and Hiram and Kai drawing on whiteboards

In this picture, Luke is telling me and Kai a story
Today we have a reading celebration and I am really looking forward to it.  And also, we have writing workshop today.

This week my reading group Dick Whittington had a self facilitated book talk.  During the book talk, Hiram made me laugh.  Next week, we will get to do an exciting dramashop - Robin Hood.
