Post from Eloy's adventures in Argentina

This is Eloy from Argentina. After one 5 hour flight from Seattle to Dallas, and a second 10 hour flight from Dallas to Buenos Aires, me, my mom, and my dad are finally in Argentina. After a first few days to get used to the time change I have gotten to the blog.

Here are a few photos of our first trip to Dallas. We saw East Washington and the Rocky mountains from the plane…

In our plane from Dallas to Argentina we where in the middle seats so we couldn't take photos of the west coast of Perú and Chile and central Argentina ; (

When we got to Argentina my grandmother and my uncle Roberto came to the airport. In my grandmother's apartment I took a few photos. In Argentina, as in many other countries, soccer (fútbol) is the most important sport. So I took a few photos of the nearby stadiums from the balcony on the 18th floor.

This is the stadium of Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro (CASLA). You can see the abbreviation of the athletic club. As you can also see their colors are red and blue. Pope Francis is a big fan of this club!

This stadium you can't see clearly. It's the round cement building. It doesn't seem like a stadium but that's because it's quite smaller. The name of the club is Ferrocarril Oeste, and their color is green. I’m going to play some soccer today with kids from here, and my dad and I are going to visit “El Monumental”, River Plate’s stadium that is the largest stadium in Argentina (I will post some pictures).

It has been a very good week. I've done and seen a lot of things, and even saw most of my family. I hope everything is going well; from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Eloy

Highlights of the week for Eric

It was a tiring week.  We had so many indoor recesses. We rarely had a not rainy day recess.

We worked really hard on writing.  I think we are making great progress.  This week on Friday we had a guest presenter after lunch recess.  At the end, he let us play some instruments he brought.  Some of them were unusual.  I think we all enjoyed listening to him play them and play them ourselves.

First, he showed us how to play the instruments.  These are the two I enjoyed.  When he was doing the presentation, we had a Spanish teacher come in because he could only speak Spanish!

We had a week this week.  I hope next week is as enjoyable as this one.

Student Musicians Spread Holiday Cheer

This group of musicians are high school students.  They spent Sunday afternoon busking at the ferry terminal downtown Seattle.  Although Ms. Kathleen's son Zachary joined the Sol Quartet this year, they started playing and busking in middle school!

Their take$$  Sunday was pretty good.  For 1.5 hours, they inflated their holiday budget healthily.

Highlights of the week for Lijah

This week was a very different week, Thursday was the most different, on Thursday we did no math or science in the morning. Instead we went on a field trip to Roosevelt high school to watch the music from the nutcracker, it was OK overall, but I thought  the part that was really good was when the clarinet's had their solo's. When we got back from the field trip we ate lunch and had some extra time to play around in the classroom. but

some kids like me such as Ben and Joaquin  and Griffin, wanted some recess because we had had no recesses today at all, so we asked the teacher and said we needed some persuasive argument writing piece to convince her to let us play outside,on the right here is our writting to persuade her.--------------------------------------------------------------------> after recess we went to the bike safety assembly, it was mostly boring except the jump roper. she was a professional and really good at it to. it was boring because when they called kids up to do experiments or test your superpowers [sarcastic] she only called on the  younger kids, I swear! I bet you the highest grade she called on was second grade! One part they dropped a melon on the ground at it cracked,
All of us are doing really good on our writing and working really hard. Most of us are on at least our typing.
At the end of the week only 3 people were left on the 1st draft but at the start of the week this is what the chart looked like----   All of us are improving a lot and getting really good at        |    writing reading math and science.

Highlights of the week for Marshall

The highlights of the week for me was writing, M.S Kathleen and the class worked on body paragraphs. We used lots of examples,Also evidence and we also worked on evidence,we also worked on the fact at the noddle table M.S Kathleen worked on writing we had to do 3 peaces of evidence for your idea. I finished my essay on is competitive sports good for kids.and we also worked on putting the icing on the cake. We also learned how to write a argument the hole class learned how to write one.
This week was the birthdays of me,Abby and Eloy had our birthdays this week . Also M.S Kathleen subbed in the morning for senorita Loura. It sounded like M.S Kathleen was a very very very busy. And believe it or not M.s Kathleen teached the class math not in Spanish she helped out senorita  Dana with watching the class. It sounded easy for Dana sense M.S Kathleen was there. This week we earned a lot of marbles this week we are three quarters of the way to filling up the hole marble jar. We had lots of great transitions, writing sessions and reading the class I think was the best at reading. We all love the new books that M.S Kathleen got for us. Now both library's are stuffed in the little corner we have lots of books now its awesome. The library had some Christmas lights on I just noticed them today they are pretty cool we also just got our photos this week. this week was really really fun there were also no fights this week also.
