The National Mall

Today Mahee and Amis did a long walk down the National Mall.  We didn't do any shopping because it's not a store.  It's a place where people go to see a lot of monuments. Here is a picture of me and Amis with the National Mall behind us.  The tall building is the Washington Monument.

This is Thomas Jefferson's Memorial.  He has a memorial because he wrote the Declaration of Independence.

This is part of the Declaration of Independence that was written on the wall of the Memorial:

This is looking out of the Jefferson Memorial at the Washington Monument:

Next we saw the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial.  He was the president during WWII and the Great Depression. Here is a statue of his wife, Eleanor Roosevelt.

We saw the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.  He fought for Civil Rights.

And finally we saw the Lincoln Memorial which celebrates all that Abraham Lincoln did to help free slaves during the Civil War.

  1. Your blog post on the Washington Monument was perfectly timed. Tess is writing about it and couldn't remember what it was called. I was, sadly, no help as I couldn't remember as well. And then...your post!!! Thank you.
